Do you want to visit Thailand and experience its culture first-hand? Here are 4 one-of-a-kind experiences you must enjoy while visiting Thailand.
Watch The Sunset at Pai Canyon
Northern Thailand is home to the town of Pai. It is situated by the banks of the Pai River in a valley. Well-known for the gorges, hot springs, and waterfalls in the area; it is a must-see. Pai Canyon is a natural canyon formed in Thailand. What’s better is it’s also free to visit, a short 5-minute hike up to the viewpoint before sunset will reveal the most amazing colours whilst looking out to the breath-taking views.
Visit an Ethical Elephant Sanctuary
Elephant Freedom Village is located in Chang Mai, Thailand. In an effort to repair some of the harm that people have done to elephants over time and to send them back to the jungle, where they belong, Elephant Freedom Village was established. At this family-run sanctuary, you can learn more about elephants. The sanctuary is completely ethical with strictly no riding, just focusing on feeding and bathing the elephants. These wonderful creatures are just as amazing in person, they will even give you hugs and kisses! The sanctuary offers a full day, half day, or an overnight experience with the elephants – a must-do if you are in the area!
Take a Dive in The Natural Coral Reefs
One of the most amazing bucket-list experiences is diving into the great underworld of the ocean. Thailand is home to an array of beautiful sea creatures including turtles, black-tip reef sharks, and seahorses. There are loads of courses available to do in the country (including your PADI diving course). If you’re looking to enjoy yourself on your own, I recommend visiting Ao Sane beach in Phuket. The beach is a fantastic beach for snorkelling and beach diving. Great, right? It is also one of the few beaches that are tranquil enough for snorkelling throughout the rainy season.
Take a Trip to The Temples
Thailand is famous for its beautiful temples and it’s the best way to immerse and get a real feel for Thai culture. Always be respectful and keep in mind your outfit as shoulders and knees must be covered. I recommend The Golden Mount Temple in Bangkok. For all devotees of the Lord Buddha, this landmark, which is located on a lone hill in Bangkok, is extremely important. You must climb 320 stairs to reach the summit for sweeping views of Rattanakosin Island. It is a historic temple that dates back to the Ayutthaya Period. Another location in Thailand that you shouldn’t skip is this one. Also, it’s free!
