When you think of the perfect place to snap an Instagram pic, the bathrooms of London’s most popular bars and restaurants may not be at the top of your list – though perhaps they should be. From those egg shaped domes, to loos with views over London, here are DesignMyNight’s most beautiful bathrooms from across the capital, so you can snap a bathroom pic to rival Kylie Jenner’s at the 2017 Met Gala.
Tonight Josephine Waterloo
Address: 111 Waterloo Road, London SE1 8UL
London’s famous pink party palace, Tonight Josephine, is Instagrammable from head to toe – we’re talking from the neon signs and cocktails right down to the toilets. The bar takes its inspiration from Josephine De Beauharnais – history’s most famous lover and the original IT girl. With that in mind, it seems only fitting that the bathroom of this wild Waterloo cocktail bar is filled with mugshots of the noughties IT girl, Lindsay Lohan. Each bathroom stall features a different mugshot of our gal Lindsay, as well as pastel pink walls and mirrors a plenty.
Sketch
Address: 9 Conduit Street, London W1S 2XG
Would a list of London’s prettiest bathrooms be complete without an appearance from Sketch? The answer is, of course, no. Perhaps the most famous bathroom in London (or the world?), you will have undoubtedly seen the spaceship looking eggs on your Instagram feed, alongside the rainbow tiled ceiling. Apart from the Michelin starred food and Instagrammable interiors, the bathrooms here are worth a visit alone – because if you haven’t snapped a pic in the Sketch loos, do you even live in London?
Blame Gloria
Address: 20 Bedford Street, London WC2E 9HP
It’s a little known fact that Covent Garden’s wildest party bar, Blame Gloria, is an ex public bathroom. Nowadays, the washrooms have had an almighty upgrade – featuring ambient lighting, floral decor and collage-esque wallpaper that contains images of all the iconic women we know and love – from Iris Apfel to Gwen Stefani and the iconic women of Ab Fab. Grab your gals and cram into the mirrors for a selfie that’s as iconic as the toilets themselves.
Restaurant Ours
Address: 264 Brompton Road, SW3 2AS
Restaurant Ours – the swankiest spot in Knightsbridge -has welcomed the likes of Rihanna, Kourtney Kardashian and Paris Hilton through its doors, and, as the famous saying goes, if it’s good enough for the Kardashians, it’s good enough for us. As for the toilets, expect an LA-inspired paradise, compete with pastel pink tiles, palm trees and gold sinks. In short, it’s everything we hope our future bathroom will be.
Aqua Shard
Address: 31 St. Thomas St, SE1 9RY
We wouldn’t expect anything less than luxurious from the tallest building in London. Aqua Shard, brought to life from those behind Aqua Kyoto and Aqua Nueva, is situated on the 31st floor of the iconic skyscraper. The views aren’t just reserved for the restaurant, though; head to the bathrooms for far stretching views over London. We promise it’s an experience like no other – just don’t look down.
Annabel’s
Address: 44 Berkeley Square, W1J 5AT
The bathrooms at members-only club Annabel’s are nothing short of iconic. Designed by acclaimed interior architect Martin Brudnizki, the powder rooms at this place are decked out with pink onyx basins, bedazzled mirrors and loveseats a plenty. If that wasn’t enough to spark your interest, no other than Victoria Beckham officially christened the bathroom, cutting a virtual ribbon to unveil the launch of the new design in 2019. Start planning your next trip to Annabel’s, because it’s time to spice up your life in these loos.
Brasserie Of Light
Address: 400 Oxford Street, W1A 1AB
Another Insta-famous bathroom designed by Martin Brudnizki is situated within Brasserie Of Light. Brudnizki said ‘Just because you’re going to the bathroom doesn’t mean it needn’t be a chic experience!’. Chic indeed as the toilets are a pink dreamland, decked out with pink marble surfaces and high shine mirrors. If you think the bathroom is something special, wait until you see the crystal-encrusted pegasus statue in the main dining room – another seriously grammable factor of this venue, and one that’s sure to leave a lasting impression.
Queen Of Hoxton
Address: 1-5 Curtain Road, EC2A 3JX
When the going gets tough, the tough go to the Queen Of Hoxton. The Shoreditch bar, club and restaurant is home to an abundance of sassy signs and imaginative cocktails that are sure to perk you up. The feel good factor doesn’t stop there, though – head to the ladies for hot pink walls, scrawled with everyone from Adele to Amy Winehouse lyrics, including the oh so relatable lyrics of Tears Dry On Their Own – ‘I cannot play myself again, should just be my own best friend, not f myself in the head with stupid men’.
NOPI
Address: 21-22 Warwick Street, W1B 5NE
Step into Nopi and you’ll be greeted with a rather unassuming interior – think stripped back, minimalistic white walls with pendant lighting, and a chilled, laid back vibe. The toilets, however, couldn’t be further from this. Head towards the loos and you’ll find a maze of mirrors that are seemingly never ending which make for the perfect bathroom selfie backdrop. Never ending reflections of yourself may seem a little intimidating, but if one thing is for sure, it’s that you’ll never have to fight for mirror space in this bathroom.
Park Chinois
Address: 17 Berkeley St, London W1J 8EA
The washrooms in Park Chinois might as well have a sign ‘snap me’ on their front door. The Mayfair restaurant oozes opulence, transporting guests to 1930’s Shanghai with an experimental dining menu and luxurious interiors. The bathrooms are no different, complete with ornate, Chinese-style art spanning the walls, as well as ambient lighting, marble surfaces and actual gold swan taps. Get your best dress out for this one, because if one thing’s for sure, it’s that you’ll be taking lots of snaps.
