Prague is one of the top-trending winter breaks this summer. The Vltava River divides Prague, the Czech Republic’s capital city. It is renowned as “the city of a Hundred Spires” because of its Old Town Square, the centre of its historic district, which is surrounded by vibrant baroque structures. Whether you enjoy history, art, high fashion, stunning architecture, or simply taking in the scenery, Prague has it all. Take a trip to the famous Charles Bridge for a picturesque Instagram selfie and take in the stunning sights – I highly recommend.

Spain’s Catalonia region’s cosmopolitan capital, Barcelona, is renowned for its art and architecture. The city is filled with modernist structures. With both the summer crowds and the autumn rains gone, Barcelona is an ideal winter break destination. Winter lasts from December to March and is relatively mild in comparison to other parts of Spain. If you’re a foodie, this destination will not disappoint. The winter food is a gem of this city – delve into the local cuisine whilst gazing a the iconic Sagrada Familia for a breath-taking sight.

Fuerteventura

Travel time from UK: around 4.5 hours

Time difference: same as UK

Seeking some winter sun? This destination is for you. In particular, surfing, windsurfing, and water skiing are popular on Fuerteventura, the second largest of Spain’s Canary Islands. Due to its white sand beaches, which are constantly wind-cooled, and its year-round temperature, it is largely recognised as a winter hot spot.  Throughout the winter, this country remains in the mid-20s, so you can catch up on your tan whilst its still freezing at home, great right? From white sand dunes to crystal clear ocean water, there is all kinds of activities to do. If you’re looking for adventure, take a trip to the volcano of Calderon Hondo, if you’re more of a beach lover, make sure to visit Jandía – the most beautiful beach on the island.

Krakow

Travel time from UK: around 2.5 hours

Take a trip to Poland this winter if you’re a lover of history and culture. If you love all things Christmas, the annual Krakow Christmas market is situated in in Kraków’s Old Town and many local artisans go there to sell seasonal traditional Polish food and hot drinks, as well as handmade goods. Traditional Polish gift items, such as regional jewellery, art, and Polish Christmas decorations, are also available to buy also – a great place to purchase Christmas presents!
