I’m the sort of person who starts preparing for Christmas in about September (as soon as my husband’s birthday has passed, I’m ready for it). I also have a massive collection of Christmas jumpers that I wear consistently throughout the month of December and it’s definitely my favourite time of the year!
And it’s not just for fun that we wear Christmas jumpers. On Thursday 8th December, millions of people are going to come together to wear their most garish Christmas jumper to make the world a better place. Each year, you have the opportunity to sign up for Save the Children’s drive and start raising money.
You can then set up a JustGiving page to get sponsorships for wearing your ugliest sweater, and wait for the fundraising resources to hit your inbox. These resources will help you set up and raise money, and that will help you wear your Christmas jumper AND do something good at the same time. The fundraising resources will help you raise money with top tips and tactics to be even more effective.
So this is all done in support of the charity Save the Children, which helps new mums, mums-to-be and their children (of all ages) in Africa to get the food and medicine they need.
One of the amazing things about this year’s Christmas jumper day is that the UK government has pledged to match donations that come from Christmas jumper day – so every time you give £2, they will also give £2. If you can raise more than £2, it will be amazing.
I have plenty of Christmas jumpers that I can wear for this, and so does my husband. But we like sustainability here at Cohorted, and so if you’re not someone who has a million jumpers, you can always decorate an old jumper with tinsel and lights, or go and grab one from a charity shop! Save the Children aren’t selling new jumpers this year which is SO sustainable and we love it!
