Seven ways to spoil your mum with quality time this Mother’s Day

This Mother’s Day spoil your mum with an alternative gift and spend the day doing something fun together instead!

Experiences are a great gift idea as they can be personalised to suit anyone! Whatever your mum enjoys doing, or whatever her interests are there will be something you and her can do together that will make this Mother’s Day special.

However, if you’re struggling here are a few ideas to get you started.

And just for reassurance, this Christmas, playing a card game of pot stirrer, a game in which players decide amongst themselves which cards relate to each player based off each other’s personality, these can be anything from know it all to peacemaker, I was awarded the title of ‘best gift giver’ by my family and so I have a few ideas for Mother’s Day that are personal and go beyond candles.

1.

Treat her to a self-care day

This can be anything from a spa weekend to going and getting your nails done together, whatever beaty/ spa treatments your mum usually gets, treat her and yourself and take the two of you for a well-deserved self-care day!

And when I say anything, it could literally be anything: hair, nails, a massage, facial, sauna, spa get away, whatever your mum would enjoy.

2.

Start a hobby together

I have done this one with my own mum. Last Mother’s Day I got us both intro offers to Hot Pod Yoga. It was something we had both wanted to try and after we did, we stuck with it and it’s now a hobby we both do together.

Try it with your own mum it doesn’t have to be yoga, you could join a dance class, a reading group, Pilates, if she likes walking you could find a new location and spend the day exploring.

If there’s something you have both wanted to do/ try then now’s the time take the leap and go together, and if you hate it, it’s a funny story that you got to experience together!

3.

Go for Brunch at her favourite café

A Brunch date is always a good idea, and you can even go a step further and book a bottomless brunch!

Alternatively, you could keep things calm and just organize going for coffee if you both have a favourite café, or you could treat her to Sunday lunch on Mothering Sunday… but make sure you book in advance because I have a feeling this will be a popular one.

4.

Jewellery making

Buying jewellery is always a safe present, I mean who doesn’t love jewellery! But did you know many jewellers offer workshops? This way you get to spend quality time with your mum, learn a new skill and get a unique and meaningful piece of jewellery, you could even make matching pieces!

5.

Bottoms up

Depending on your mum’s drink of choice you could try a cocktail making class or a wine tasting session. You could even gather a few friends and family and make a day of it.

After all, who’s mum doesn’t deserve a drink?

If your Mum doesn’t drink, you can still use this idea just substitute the wine tasting for a coffee tasting experience instead.

6.

Go and watch something together

This is another one me and my mum have done! We went to see the Strictly Come Dancing tour together and it was as much a present for myself as it was for her, we loved it! And it gave us something to look forward to together.

You can literally go and see anything, a play, a dance show, a comedy, a singer/ band, if there’s something you usually watch/ listen to together then try and find a live showing.

It doesn’t even have to be as lavish as going to the theatre, you could even go to the cinema. Is there a new film you both want to see? An actor you both like? Or even better is there a cinema showing old favourites?

7.

Try a new restaurant together

Everyone loves food so you really can’t go wrong treating your mum to a meal this Mother’s Day. However, if you want to make it even more memorable why don’t you try a new restaurant? There’s always new openings or new cuisines to try and this way you both get to experience something new together!
