Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. If your immediate thought was, wait wasn’t it just Christmas? Us too.
The unprecedented rise of the cost of living does not seem to be scoping back down anytime soon, so we pulled together a list of ways to celebrate your loved one this Valentine’s on a budget (of course while still showing you care.) You don’t need a lavish night to show how much you adore your special someone…
Indoor Picnic
Let’s face it the British winter and frost temperatures are still very much upon us, but this doesn’t mean you can’t have an intimate picnic. Move the picnic blanket indoors and make the lunch date even more special by selecting each other’s favourite snacks and seeing if you guess right, try this list:
- Their favourite crisps
- A snack in their favourite colour
- Something savoury
- Something sweet
- Their go-to drink of choice
Pamper Night
Nothing beats a night in of full-on pampering. Gather all your skincare favourites, light your best candles and make your home a sanctuary. From body oil massages to face steamers and sheet masks, tonight is all about self-care and taking care of your loved one.
Breakfast In Bed
This one never gets old. Pick out their favourite breakfast snacks, from pancakes to eggs and hash browns served with their go-to coffee. This simple and meaningful gesture is one to use any day of the year to remind your partner how much you appreciate them.
The Cinema Or Movie Night
Head for a classic cinema date and pick n mix or turn your home into a cinema, take those old Christmas lights and extra blankets and build yourselves a cosy den. Pick out your favourite films on Netflix and get to chilling.
Winter Walks
Get wrapped up and head for a romantic walk. Spend quality time together with a hot chocolate in hand, chatting the day away. Because let’s face it, life can get busy so why not use today to take a pause and really listen to your loved one.
Make a Scrapbook
We all keep the little things that hold some sentimental value to us, from car parking tickets on the first date to gum wrappers from the first road trip. (Don’t deny it, we all know about the boyfriend box thanks to Loralie Gilmore). So spend the day reminiscing, printing off old photos and forming a scrapbook of your time together.
Cook Together
Get dressed up for the dining room. But before you do, why not spend time cooking together and being in the present moment? Fully enjoy the time together and don’t take these simple yet fun things for granted. Have a date night prepared by the two fo you.
