Delicious Food You Didn’t Know Are Vegan

Veganism is often misrepresented as a difficult diet to follow. Whether you’re a full-time vegan, trialling it for Veganuary, or have never considered making the switch, you need to read this blog. I’m sharing some of your favourite food and snacks that you may not have realised were vegan.

Oreos

Believe it or not, this chocolate and cream biscuit is actually vegan! It’s a great way to get your chocolatey treat without the guilt. They’re delicious dunked into some oat milk. Be aware, though, there may be some cross-contact with milk in the factory, so strict vegans may not want to choose them. Shop here.

Lotus Biscoff Biscuits and Spread

Everyone got excited when Biscoff Spread was released – including vegans. The original biscuits and the new spread are free from eggs, milk, and animal by-products, with no traces of non-vegan ingredients at all. Not all Lotus products are vegan, however, so be sure to read the label. Shop biscuits and spread.

Warburtons Crumpets

A classic British snack, crumpets can be enjoyed at any time of day. Deliciously thick and fluffy, they’re best enjoyed with a thick layer of vegan butter. To make mini vegan pizzas, top with tomato puree, vegan cheese, toppings of your choice and grill. Shop here.

Fox’s Party Rings

A nostalgic snack from childhood, Party Rings weren’t always vegan. A couple of years ago, they switched up the recipe to remove the gelatine, and now everyone can enjoy them! Perfect for a sweet treat, or maybe for a noughties party. The same with Oreos, there may be some cross-contamination, so stay away if you’re on a stricter diet. Shop here.

HP Brown Sauce

This is one for the dads who swore they’d never go vegan – turns out their favourite sauce is completely vegan and plant based! With a tangy taste and tomato-base, it’s a great addition to hearty meals for the colder months. Try it in a stew, on vegan cheese on toast, or brush it over your grilled vegetables. Shop here.

McVitie’s Ginger Nuts

Perfect for dipping into a cuppa, McVitie’s Ginger Nuts are a classic spicy-sweet treat. You’ll be pleased to learn that it’s not just the McVitie’s Ginger Nuts which are vegan. There’s also the original Digestives, Nice biscuits and even the Choc Chip Hobnobs. Shop Ginger Nuts here.

Skittles

Most types of Skittles are Vegan Society approved, including the classic Fruits, Crazy Sours, Giants and Fruit Chewies. These sugary sweets are a good alternative to dark chocolate if you want to get your sugar-fix, but prefer a lighter taste. They’re also a great topping for cakes, cookies and buns. Shop here.

Coco Shreddies

The best way to start the day this Veganuary, Coco Shreddies have a slow-release of energy and taste amazing. Not a chocolate fan? The Original and Frosted Shreddies are also vegan. They’re approved by the Vegan Society, so you can be sure they’re safe. Simply serve with a milk substitute of your choice and enjoy. We recommend oat. Shop here.

Ritz Original Crackers

A salty cracker that pairs perfectly with vegan cheese, Ritz are great for snacking. Oven-baked and with a classic crunch, they’re great for adding texture to a meal. Why not top with some vegan cream cheese and fresh tomatoes? Shop here.
